I know it has been a while since I have updated this - first of all, with the help of all my wonderful clients, I raised $215 during the month of October for the Susan G. Komen foundation!! This surpassed my goal of $100!! Thank you all so much!! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and enjoyed all of the extra family time! The month of December has been especially busy and I can't believe 2011 is almost over! I can't wait to see what all 2012 has in store!!

Beautiful Fall colors, beautiful family!

This family scheduled a family session not only to help raise money for breast cancer awareness for the Shoot for the Cure, but also when asked for a family portrait in school, one of the little girls had to draw a doodle family because they didn't have a current family photo! Too cute! I'm so thankful they chose Southern Exposure Photography for their updated photo (it just so happens I also took their last family portrait about two years ago). Contact me today for YOUR updated family portrait!

Fall Mini Session Date Announced - Limited Spots!

This mini session will be held outdoors at my studio from 1-3 pm on Saturday, October 22, and is perfect for any age! Now is the perfect time to start planning those family Christmas cards and during the month of October, for every $25 package sold (which includes 1-8"x10", 2-5"x7"s, and 8-wallets), $5 will be donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

What is a "mini" session? A mini session is a very quick session. They are scheduled close together and move faster than a normal session with limited availability

If it's not as long as a regular session why would I want one? The advantages of a "mini session" include no minimum purchase (the proofing is the same on a mini session as a regular session - I shoot the photo, you view your proofs and order instantly) and not having to pay taxes (the prices are the same for a mini session as a regular sesion, but I take the taxes out of my profit for a mini session instead of it being out of pocket for you)

Baby Wyatt

I had a sweet newborn session yesterday with 7 day old Baby Wyatt. This baby is the first child of two "only child"s - yea... he's got them all wrapped around his little finger! Everytime I have a newborn session it reminds me of sweet baby love so don't be suprised if you get an updated newborn blog 9 months from now, haha!

Exciting things!

I have been in business (legally - paying taxes lol) for five years. Up until now, I have just been using the standard/generic ©Southern Exposure Photography on my images. I know in order to "brand" myself (that one's for you Mrs. Kerner) I need to have a logo - with all that being said - here's my new logo!
Now, in order to show off my new logo (and also because I am overdue for a contest), from now until the end of August I am going to run a referral contest! Send your friends and family to my facebook, twitter, or this blog, have them tell me that YOU referred them, and there is going to be a HUGE prize valued at $75! Oh, you want to know the prize? :)
I thought so!
The prize for the person with the most referrals will be an outdoor session (good for one, 30 minute session in the Ardmore, Athens, or Huntsville location of your choice) and a $25 print credit! Now spread the word!!

My babies!

One would think that being a photographer would mean having a ton of pictures of your own kids, and for the most part I do have a lot of them, but mostly snapshots, not posed, professional pictures that I have taken the time to shoot. However, today we did just that - we had a session! My kids are no doubt my favorite subjects, not only because I love them with all my heart, but also because I know what to expect from them, and they know what to expect out of me! I have all the time in the world (or at least as much time as my three year old allows haha) for our "sessions" and hopefully we are building memories for a lifetime in the process!

Return to Art - 4-H art camp July 12, 2011

Today I taught a group of 14 kids for a 4-H art camp and it was really refreshing to see the "new artists" at work. They had creativity and ideas that I would have never thought of and it reminded me of why I became an artist in the first place! I won my first coloring contest when I was less than 5 years old and the only "activity" I can ever remember doing well in school was art (of course we never had classes for art specifically). I am glad to have been a part of this 4-H art camp today and it reminds me that I need to keep my creative juices flowing in ALL areas of art in order to better my photographic skills!

Today I received some really nice comments on some of my artwork and it just made my day! With that being said, if you get a chance, go out and see the ASU Alumni Art Show: Jan 10 - Feb 4, 2011. There will be a reception: Jan 15 (Saturday) 3 - 5 p.m. and  "Meet the Artists" Thursday, February 3 from 6 - 8 p.m. Let me know what you think of my artwork!
