*NEW*

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this, but was *strongly* encouraged by a friend to try it, so here goes! For those who don't know me, I am Cindy - owner and photographer of Southern Exposure Photography. I have known since I got my first 110 camera at the age of 9, that I wanted to be a photographer. I am married with two kids, daughter Ashley, and son, Lee. This first blog is going to hopefully give you an idea of what I do and why I got into studio photogprahy. When Ashley was a little girl, I worked my way through college working as a waitress, so money was always an issue. (This was during the 35mm time of developing your own film in the darkroom) Before I got into the studio aspect of photography in college, I would take my daughter to the typical "cheap" studios around the area. They would advertise the $2.99 special and I was hooked! I would put Ashley's cutest outfit on and head out, washed face, brushed hair and all, for what (in my head) was SURE to be a fun experience for both of us! Of course, once I got there, the fun ended. The photographer would rush my shy child in front of the camera and start snapping away. Of course, with the "special" you get the first pose of the group with the plain blue background... inevitably the "good" ones always came after, so I got 100 of the mini wallets that you have to have a magnifying glass to see of the pose where my child looks VERY unhappy to be there (and that's if I was lucky enough that she was looking AT the camera for that first pose) then they show me the "good" ones where 1 8"x10" was going to cost me $20.00 (what happened to my "deal"!?). The $2.99 also never included their sitting fees. I can assure you I have never actually paid just $2.99 for pictures! These experiences were the reason I wanted to open my own studio. I take the time to get to know your child and as a mother, I realize that you can not just sit a child on a stool and tell them to smile. Each child is individual and respond in different ways. Once our session is over you get instant previews of your portraits and I only print what YOU want. I always keep the original files so that when you get home and realize you forgot Aunt Rose's 8"x10", you can re-order. I offer both outdoor and studio settings with no session fees as long as the sessions take place at my studio. I schedule sessions on YOUR time - after school, nights, weekends, whatever works for your family! There is a minimum order of $30.00 and the final prints are professional printed and are back within two weeks of your session. Please contact me with any questions or to set up your session!
